ITCCCA 5K Postal Championships - Guidelines Update

The ITCCCA Postal 5k Championships is a chance for athletes from around the state of Illinois to compete against each other while running on your home track. Since we will not be able to compete against each other in sectional and state meet competitions, we can do this running five kilometers (12 ½ laps) around the track. We can compete against each other safely and social distancing.

There have been some updates/additions to the guidelines for the ITCCCA Postal Championships to be held October 29 to 31 at a track near you in Illinois. The guidelines have been updated on Athletic.Net and RunnerSpace.com meet pages.

1 The HOKA ONE ONE NATIONAL POSTAL 2-Mile Championships has extended their dates to end now on October 31. If you do not run a 2-Mile Time Trial during the season, you will be allowed to take the 2-Mile split from your postal 5k race. More details on the 2-Mile Postal Meet can be found on the HOKA ONE ONE POSTAL CHAMPIONSHIPS WEBSITE.

2 There was an announcement on September 14, 2020 that the NIKE CROSS VIRTUAL will be held this fall from September 21 to November 8 for the qualifying meets, November 16 to 24 for the national meets . You can find more information on the NIKE CROSS VIRTUAL WEBSITE.

3 Take video of the Time Trial especially the finish with someone calling out the times. 4 There have been questions by Class 1A Coaches asking if the Postal 5k Time Trials can be held the week before the scheduled dates due to a conflict with the 1A races at the ShaZam XC Championships on November 1.

It is still uncertain the State of Illinois COVID-19 Guidelines that were implemented in August will still apply at the end of October and November. There are doubts that the regional guidelines will change from Level 3 before that time according to IDPH officials.With levels at 3.7 statewide as of September 15, there is a growing concern that we could shift from Level 3 to Level 2 by the time we get to colder weather. Only time will tell on that.

It is our decision that the ITCCCA 5K Postal Championships will still be held safely and within social distancing standards on the dates previously announced (October 29 to October 31). It would be unfair to other 1A schools that have chosen to compete in our postal meet at this time.
